About me

I'm a Manager Consultant with Sogeti, USA. I've been doing IT for more then 15 years and have spent much of that time doing internet and multi-tier based development.

I liked SOA but believe that cloud computing finally gives organizations of all sizes a tangible, near term reason to start working on their SOA maturity. Its also just really fun to start imagining the possibilities that the cloud brings.

Claiming MSDN Subscriber Azure Benefits

On January 4th, 2010 Azure Platform benefits were added for MSDN Premium Subscribers. However, the process for claiming those benefits has confused some. I've written a short article on how to claim those benefits and get back to developing in the cloud.

Attendee Recap - August

This is a repost from my personal blog at http://bstineman.spaces.live.com

The August meeting was rescheduled to accommodate a special guest speaker. David Chappell, of David Chappell and Associates. I never had the opportunity to see David present before. I… Continue

Attendee Recap - June Meeting

Unfortunately, I was detained elsewhere and arrived more then 30 minutes late for this month's session. I'm a bit bummed about this as I've seen Jeff Brand, June's first speaker, present on Windows Azure before. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Attendance this month was about 18 or so. There was some new faces in attendance this month. I'm not certain if they were new members of the UG or just first time shows. In either case it was nice to see them there.

The first presenter was Jeff Brand, p… Continue

Attendee Recap - May Meeting

You'll have to forgive the quality of my notes. The conversations being conducted and content presented during the May meeting had me distracted like a cat with a laser pointer. My head still hurts.

For the april meeing we had about 15 or so attendees show up. Number was down from the first meeting, but that's to be expected. Turnout and participation still indicates there's interest and I'm certain we'll get more folks to attend as we settle in and start producing.

Speaking of producing, Brad… Continue

Hands on with Azure Queues - Part 3

The final part in my series about coding your own Azure Storage calls for Queues is up at my notepad. In this installment I've added two final functions and put together a quick demo application. The article includes a link to download my final solution.

I have a couple other subjects I'll be touching on over the coming weeks before I start into an exploration of .NET Services.
