Project Thor
You talked, we listened. Over the past several months we have received some great feedback from the user group. One of the reoccurring themes we've seen in the feedback is the desire to get more hands on with some of the great technology we discuss on a monthly basis. To that end we've devised a community based project. The goal of the project is to help you, the community, get down in the trenches with technologies like Windows Azure, Exchange Web Services, etc., etc. Of course the phrase "down in the trenches" can mean different things to different people depending on what role you have in your company. For a developer it means cracking open Visual Studio and writing some code. For an architect it may mean coming up with a design that will work in the cloud. For a business decision maker it might mean determining the value a cloud based solution can provide to his or her organization. In any case, our goal is to help you start thinking about and working with the cloud platform.
If this has whetted your appetite I'm sure you'll want more details about the project. For example, you're probably wondering "What's with the name?" Well, over the next 10 days I'll be posting a series of blog entries on this site giving you some background on the project (i.e. what problem we're trying to solve, what technologies we want to use, why the cloud is a good fit, how you can get involved, etc.) The goal is that by the time this meeting occurs you'll have enough background on the project to participate in a working meeting.
Stay tuned for details, and I'll see you on the 12th.
